The third round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia season at Mugello closes for Dinamic Motorsport with points placings for Aldo Festante and Dirk Schouten; good drive in the wet for Lorenzo Cheli...
Scarperia (ITA). The first half of the season of the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia ended at Mugello, with Dinamic Motorsport protagonist of a solid but below expectations weekend. However, the Emilian team archives the weekend with important points in view of the championship thanks to two ninth places conquered by Aldo Festante and two twelfth places for Dirk Schouten. In Race 1, both drivers had a great start, immediately moving into the top ten. The race featured two safety car interventions that broke the pace. On the second restart, Schouten lost valuable ground, finishing just outside the top ten. Even more difficult conditions in Race 2, run in pouring rain that led to numerous crashes and the display of the red flag. Despite the difficulties, Festante and Schouten managed to finish the race, replicating the results of the previous day. Of note was the positive reaction of Lorenzo Cheli, author of a clearly improved performance in the second race: the young driver showed maturity and determination in extremely treacherous conditions.
Lorenzo Cheli: “It was probably the most complicated weekend since the start of the season. Mugello is a track that I really like, but it's also very technical and challenging, especially when you're racing it for the first time. On Sunday the rain made it even more difficult, with conditions really on the limit. Despite this, I come home with a lot more experience, and this is crucial for me at this stage of my journey. Let's keep working and growing race after race!”.
Aldo Festante: “We definitely wanted something more, also in light of the results we obtained last year on this track. The conditions we found threw us off a bit and in qualifying we were not able to express our full potential, also due to a yellow flag that compromised the good lap for race 2. Nevertheless, we bring home 14 points, and the way the weekend had turned out after qualifying, it really could have been worse. I am very pleased with our reaction and how we handled the situation-this is where we want to start again!”.
Dirk Schouten: “Mugello is an extremely technical and challenging track, and since free practice we have been working intensively with the team to find the best possible set-up. The feedback in qualifying was very positive and gave us confidence ahead of the races. Unfortunately, in the race some contacts compromised the final result and I was not able to collect as much as I had hoped. Nevertheless, it was a useful weekend in terms of experience: I learned a lot and I am determined to come back stronger from the next round!”.
