Spa-Francorchamps (BEL). The fifth round of the season in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, staged on the iconic Spa-Francorchamps track, ended with the three Dinamic Motorsport drivers at the finish line in sequence, just outside the points zone. A result that leaves a bit of regret, especially in light of the potential expressed during the weekend, but still brings encouraging signs for the second part of the season. Dirk Schouten confirmed himself among the protagonists in the Rookie category, taking third place in the special classification reserved for rookies. The young Dutchman shone in free practice, finishing with an excellent sixth time overall, and had replicated the performance in qualifying as well with a time that would have earned him fifth place on the grid. However, the stewards cancelled his best lap for a very dubious track limit, thus compromising the entire weekend. The race, run in difficult conditions on a wet track, offered little chance for a comeback. Schouten still finished in P17, ahead of teammates Pietro Delli Guanti and Aldo Festante, who battled to the end in a compact and competitive group. Dinamic Motorsport now looks with determination to the next round, aware of the potential of the team and its drivers.
Pietro Delli Guanti: “It was a complex weekend on a track I was facing for the first time. We struggled to find the right pace right away, and that affected the whole weekend. The pace remained consistent, but we probably could have done a little more in qualifying. The race took place in special conditions that made it difficult to recover, especially considering how crucial starting positions are on a track like Spa. Still, we will take the experience home and work to grow from the next race onward!”.
Aldo Festante: “On a track as notoriously complex and unpredictable as Spa, we struggled to adapt to the rapidly changing conditions. Personally, I couldn't interpret either the track or the car to the best of my ability, and that definitely affected the final result. The race was a real jackpot and, unfortunately, we ended up on the wrong side of the lottery. But that is part of motorsport, and this is Spa. It remains a weekend that leaves us with important lessons and will serve us well as we grow and come better prepared for the upcoming events!”.
Dirk Schouten: “The weekend had started in the best way with a promising sixth overall time in free practice, which confirmed a good feeling with the car and the track. I had also set a very good time in qualifying, unfortunately cancelled due to a track limit signaling that remains, in my opinion, questionable. This compromised my grid position and, starting further back, I didn't have much chance to make a comeback in the race. It is a shame because the potential to do well was there, but we will come back stronger at the next time!”.
