PMSC, Schouten wins in Monaco among Rookies

On the streets of the Principality, Dirk Schouten gives Dinamic Motorsport the victory among the Rookies in a breathtaking race that lasted four laps after the multiple accident on the first start; at the foot of the Rookies podium closes Pietro Delli Guanti, out Gianmarco Quaresmini...

Monte Carlo (MON). The second round of the Porsche Supercup, staged on the prestigious Monte Carlo city track, will be remembered as one of the shortest races in the long history of the one-make series organized for more than 30 years by the Stuttgart-based manufacturer. A few seconds after the start, a maxi-accident involved several cars, forcing Race Direction to show the red flag. Complex track repair work left time only for a sprint restart, with just four laps to go. In the initial chaos, Dirk Schouten emerged, adept at avoiding the accident and moving into the top positions. The Dutchman makes the most of the few available laps and closes in sixth position overall, taking victory in the Rookies classification and climbing onto the prestigious podium in the Principality. Also positive was the result of Pietro Delli Guanti, who managed to avoid damage in the initial carambola and finished the race in a good position despite the special circumstances. Unlucky weekend instead for the returning Gianmarco Quaresmini, who was forced to retire due to the damage in the collective accident. An anomalous and complicated weekend, which nevertheless saw Dinamic Motorsport protagonist between the walls of the most iconic circuit of the season.

Pietro Delli Guanti: “It was a mixed weekend in Monte Carlo. After a good free practice session, in qualifying we couldn't find the right pace - and on a track like this, starting behind complicates everything. At the start I was not directly involved in the contact, but I still paid the consequences by losing positions. I finished in P12, which is not a throw-away result, but the way the weekend had turned out, I can't be satisfied. One learns and looks ahead!”.

Gianmarco Quaresmini: “Unfortunately, it was not the weekend I had envisioned. In qualifying I failed to maximize my potential and this penalized me at the start, forcing me to start in the back of the pack. At the first corner I found myself in the midst of the chaos generated by contact between the cars in front, and although I tried to avoid the impact, I was involved in a pileup that definitely compromised my race. It is a withdrawal that leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, but it is part of motorsport”.

Dirk Schouten: “We did it! We won the Rookie race at the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix. What a special feeling. A huge thank you goes out to all my supporters and the team: it was the most fun weekend of my life. It's time to celebrate well!”.
