Dinamic Motorsport: a promising debut for the Maserati MC20 GT2 at the 12 Hours of Mugello, brought to a halt only by bad luck...
Scarperia (ITA). An encouraging debut, albeit one marred by bad luck, for Dinamic Motorsport at the 12 Hours of Mugello, the opening round of the Michelin 24H Series Europe, where the team made the endurance debut of the Maserati MC20 GT2. Roberto Pampanini and Mauro Calamia, who were already key players in last season’s GT2 European Series, took turns at the wheel of the Trident car, joined for the occasion by Amedeo Pampanini. The Tuscan weekend got off to the best possible start, with the team securing class pole position and a strong performance in the overall standings too, immediately confirming the potential of the car-team package. The race, consisting of two six-hour heats as per the regulations, saw the MC20 GT2 maintain a competitive and consistent pace. However, with just twenty minutes remaining in the first stint, a collision caused by another competitor resulted in the car going off the track, forcing the crew to lose two laps. Despite the incident, Dinamic Motorsport ended Saturday’s proceedings at the top of the class, demonstrating great determination and resilience. Sunday, however, turned out to be a bitter disappointment: with three hours remaining in the race, an electrical fault forced the gold-coloured car to retire, bringing a premature end to a weekend that had shown extremely positive signs. The Maserati MC20 GT2’s endurance debut nevertheless offers plenty of encouraging signs ahead of the upcoming races this season.
Maurizio Lusuardi, team principal: “It was a weekend of mixed fortunes. On the one hand, we saw the great potential of the Maserati MC20 GT2 and our team, demonstrated by our pole position and very competitive race pace. On the other, unfortunate incidents prevented us from achieving the result we deserved. Saturday’s collision and Sunday’s electrical issue are all part of racing, especially in a demanding event like a 12-hour race. Nevertheless, we’re taking home some very positive takeaways and will continue to work hard to be among the frontrunners in the upcoming rounds!”.
